MARGIN — SELF-INITIATED FINTECH CONCEPT. ALL FINANCIAL FIGURES ARE SYNTHETIC AND ARE NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE.

Margin / Small-business fintech

An explainable finance workspace for tiny creative businesses, with scenario sliders and an AI-assisted action plan.

The problem

Small studios have financial data but struggle to translate fluctuating income and expenses into clear hiring, investing and savings decisions.

Product strategy

Immediate input/output coupling makes the model understandable. Forecasts highlight assumptions and distinguish projected from historical values.

Design decisions

Friendly premium fintech / lavender and ink. Make every slider response immediate and keep a versioned assumption log beside the chart.

UX research approach

Synthetic research: 7 fictional founder interviews, 12 modeled scenario tasks. This is a fictional scenario: no real interviews or measured outcomes are claimed.

Accessibility & responsive design

Keyboard-operable controls, visible focus, readable content and responsive reflow support this concept. Reduced-motion preferences remove animated scrolling. Physical-device and assistive-technology validation remain future work.

AI-assisted workflow

Prototype common what-if questions and an uncertainty band; test whether users understand where the result comes from. AI-assisted implementation is used for prototyping and iteration; product recommendations here are deterministic local simulations.

Proposed technical architecture

Next.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Stripe reporting adapters, isolated forecast services and a versioned scenario store. Illustrative business numbers; not financial advice or a real forecast. This architecture is a proposal, not a deployed backend.

Limitations & lessons

Incomplete data triggers assumptions and caveats instead of a confident prediction. No movement of money and no autonomous financial transactions. The next step is real user research, production data validation and accessibility testing before any launch.

Information architecture & user flow

  1. User changes revenue and monthly expenses
  2. Deterministic engine recalculates an illustrative runway
  3. Agent drafts risk-aware suggestions with assumptions
  4. User chooses which scenario to save
